Schematic Works — Diagnostic, Repair, and Maintenance Services

1. Scope of Services

Schematic Works provides diagnostic, repair, and maintenance services for lighting, grip, power distribution, and studio equipment. Services may include diagnostics, testing, part replacement, refurbishment, and related work necessary to return equipment to working condition.

2. Services and Authorization

A nonrefundable deposit is required to perform diagnostics. To begin repair, the estimate must be paid, which is considered approval. If the repair is denied, the deposit is retained as the diagnostic fee.

4. Manufacturer and Parts Availability

Repairs may require manufacturer-authorized parts, tools, or software and may at times be performed in partnership with the manufacturer or an authorized service provider. Schematic Works is not responsible for delays or limitations caused by manufacturer requirements, discontinued parts, restricted software, or backorders. Where permitted, equivalent or approved replacement parts of equal or greater quality may be used.

5. Warranty and Non-Warranty Repairs

  • Schematic Works provides a 30-day warranty on labor and replacement parts, unless manufacturer warranty terms apply.
  • Manufacturer coverage controls when applicable; current partners include Astera, Briese, Creamsource, LiteGear, and Nanlux. Schematic Works does not extend or modify manufacturer warranties.
  • Rework within the warranty period is performed at no labor charge. Additional or replacement parts are billed.
  • Warranty excludes user error, misuse, impact damage, unrelated failures, and expendables such as flashtubes, domes, and modeling lamps.
  • Used or refurbished sales carry a 30-day limited warranty. After 30 days, sales are final.
  • Obsolete or discontinued equipment may require used, rebuilt, or salvaged parts with no guarantee of future performance.
  • Profoto 8a repairs and sales are final. No warranty.

6. Shipping and Risk of Loss

Customers are responsible for shipping to and from Schematic Works. Risk of loss transfers once equipment leaves our facility with a carrier. Schematic Works is not responsible for delays, damage, or loss in transit. Customers are encouraged to fully insure shipments and avoid USPS.

7. Liability

Schematic Works handles all equipment with reasonable care while in its possession and is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage caused by events beyond its control, including but not limited to shipping, transit, fire, flood, natural disasters, labor disputes, or supplier delays. Schematic Works shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.

8. Payment Terms and Credit Card Authorization

Accepted payments: ACH, check, or online portal. A valid credit card must be kept on file through a signed Credit Card Authorization (CCA) form. The card may be charged in accordance with the payment terms of this Agreement if balances remain unpaid or equipment is deemed abandoned under Section 3.

9. Governing Law and Venue

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kings County, New York.

10. Entire Agreement

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes all prior communications or understandings. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder shall remain in effect.

11. Sales, Swaps, and Consignments

Sales of Used or Refurbished Equipment. Any used or refurbished equipment sold by Schematic Works includes a 30-day limited warranty, unless otherwise specified in writing. After this period, all sales are final.

Swapped or Loaner Equipment. Schematic Works may provide swapped or loaner equipment at its discretion. Loaner equipment remains the property of Schematic Works and must be returned in the same condition, ordinary wear excepted. Customer is responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to swapped or loaner equipment while in their possession.

Consignment Equipment. Consignment arrangements require a separate written agreement between the consignor and Schematic Works. Terms relating to duration, retrieval, and commission are governed by that agreement.

12. Storage and Abandonment

Client agrees that equipment left with Schematic Works is subject to storage and abandonment fees if not paid for, approved, or retrieved within the stated timeframes. Schematic Works reserves the right to assess such fees and, after the periods below, to dispose of, scrap, or resell equipment in order to recover outstanding balances.

Equipment remaining unclaimed for more than 90 days without payment, approval, or pickup shall be deemed abandoned, and Schematic Works shall have no further obligation to the Client regarding such equipment.

Credit Card Authorization

A valid credit card must be kept on file and may be charged in accordance with the payment terms set forth in the Master Service Agreement if balances are unpaid or equipment is abandoned. Your card details will be securely stored and used only as a backup method of payment. Primary payments should be made by ACH, check, or the online portal.

Processing fees: Standard 3 percent. Manual entry 4 percent.

Acknowledgement

I authorize Schematic Works to keep my credit card on file and to charge it in accordance with the payment terms set forth in the Master Service Agreement, including charges for unpaid balances or equipment deemed abandoned.
